Previous roles in
SGA:
“I was an executive chief
of staff in external affairs and a College of Engineering Senator.”
Why did you become
involved in SGA?
“Initially, I wanted
to help improve the conditions of the College of
Engineering.”
Who is your role model?
“My father is my role
model. He was my coach when I played sports as a child, and
now, no matter what I am involved with, he continually ‘coaches’
me with his words of inspiration.”
What is your administrations biggest challenge?
“Internal operations
and communications were rather poor in the past, so we made this a focus
the entire year. After two key retreats/workshops, the students worked
together on projects. Much of this success is attributed to the efforts
of my vice president and the speaker of the senate.”
What legacy will your administration leave?
“Our administration
has established project protocol within the
University of
Miami Student Government.
Student Government members are able to have greater visibility as to
projects on which other members are currently working. Most importantly,
these senate and cabinet initiatives are presented to the executive
board through detailed descriptions. This
enables the executive board to fuse the UM administration with the
senators and cabinet members in a clear and concise manner. As a result
of this streamlined process, senators have been accomplishing more
projects and due to the clear communication, the UM administration has
been impressed with the increased
organization.”
How does student body view SGA?
“The University of
Miami’s SG is the link between
the student body and the administration. We work in collaboration to
address pertinent issues in our agenda.”
Describe your relationship with the administration.
“The administration is
receptive to the ideas of our student leaders. Not only do they support our
projects, but they often help drive them towards success.”
Describe your relationship with the media.
“The media covers our
events and meetings on a weekly basis. However, we are working to increase
the amount of coverage we receive within the upcoming months.”
What advice would you
give to other SGAs?
“Join an organization
that you have a passion for. If you work hard and keep a positive attitude,
good things will come.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“I plan to pursue an
aggressive position in the fields of finance or technical sales.”
