Favorite book:
The Little Engine That Could, by Watty Piper and George Hauman
Hobbies:
Spending time with my friends and family (especially with my two nephews), writing and reading poetry, listening to music, watching movies, playing video games and relaxing.

Why did you become involved in SGA?
“I wanted to be more involved on our campus, so I decided to help out the previous SGA with their events. Most of the members had noticed me because I’m a Student Leader for our volunteer site on campus (CSL), a Student Ambassador, an Honors student, and a charter member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. Over time, I became friends with the members and was asked to run for president when elections came this year.”

Who is your role model?
“I would have to say that my biggest influence and role model would be my nana, Joan Greene. She supports all the decisions I have made throughout my life and my efforts in school and the community. She has been an incredible source of strength and taught me that if I truly believe in something, nothing can stop me from achieving my goal. I am grateful for all the encouragement she has given me and for all that she continues to give.”

What is your administration’s biggest challenge?
“The biggest challenge is yet to come. Our current Dean is leaving, and we look forward to welcoming a new one in fall 2003. (This will be a difficult transition to make seeing as both Deans work differently.) The bond that the students established with our retiring Dean will be hard to duplicate with the new one. However, we are looking forward to meeting him.”

What legacy will your administration leave?
“As I’m settling into my position, I hope to leave a legacy of awareness. The SGA works with each and every student club on campus to help each other at events and show a joined support. I want to show awareness by letting the students know that we are all here for their benefit. We want to have all four campuses of BCC work together as one in order to keep everyone informed and on the same page.”

How does the student body view SGA?
“The student body isn't as aware of the SGA as I would like them to be. That’s something our board is trying to fix on campus.”

Describe your relationship with the administration.
“One thing I take extreme pride in at BCC is the never-ending support from the campus administration. The administration knows my board members and I by name, and is always eager and willing to talk, whether the subject is related to business or not.”

Describe your relationship with the media.
“BCC has its own television station, Channel 5. We are currently working to get either a featured spot on the show to inform students of the events on each campus or create a commercial to remind the students that we’re here for them
.”

What advice would you give to other SGA’s?
“Never give up! If you truly believe that you can do something, chances are that you can. Remain focused and listen to the fellow members of your organization. Above all, remember that there is no I in team.

What are your plans after graduation?
“After I receive my AA at BCC, I plan to attend the University of Florida in hopes of an acceptance into the medical program. I intend to continue my college education until I earn my Ph.D. No matter what it takes, if I remain driven and focused on my ultimate goal, I know I will achieve it.“
