interesting facts about 2000's Florida College Student of the Year Award winners:
Fourteen colleges and
universities are represented by the 20 winners.
51 colleges and universities are
represented by the 140 applicants. Miami-Dade Community College had the most applicants
(12), along with Barry University (7), Florida Gulf Coast University (6), and Hillsborough
Community College (6).
Eight of the 20 students this
year hail from private colleges and universities, while eight attend state universities,
and four attend community colleges.
Two winners are of
non-traditional age.
Fourteen of the 20 winners are
women, as well as three of the seven finalists.
Miami-Dade Community College,
the University of Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, Barry University, Saint Leo
University, and Lynn University have two honorees each..
