Here are some interesting facts about the 2001 Florida College Student of the Year Award winners:

Nineteen colleges and universities are represented by the 20 winners.

43 Florida colleges and universities were represented by the 121 applicants. Miami-Dade Community College (9) had the most applicants, along with the University of Florida and Florida International University with eight each, and St. Petersburg Junior College with five.

Six of the 20 students this year hail from private colleges and universities, while five attend state universities, and nine attend community colleges—the most ever.

Two winners are of non-traditional age.

Thirteen of the 20 winners are women, as well as six of the seven finalists.

Central Florida Community College is the only institution with two honorees.
